The Watzmann at 2713 meters is a mountain in the Bavarian Alps south of the village of Berchtesgaden. It is the third highest in Germany, and the highest located entirely on German territory. Three main peaks array on a North to South  axis along a ridge on the mountain’s taller western half are :- Hocheck, Mittelspitze and Südspitze. Not surprising that the mountain’s imposing outline is used in numerous regional tourist and product logos. On its eastern side, Lake Königssee lies at its feet with the highest rock face in the Eastern Alpine Range, the famed Watzmann East Face towering above.
