Pen yr Ole Wen, Snowdonia, although boasting a height of  978m and being the seventh highest mountain in Wales, it is not usually climbed as a one off climb, but more often as a stepping stone the grander and popular Carneddau range mountains of Carnedd Dafydd and Carnedd Llewellyn. Nevertheless it is presents a short but challenging steep ascent from Ogwen Valley  which is rewarded by some superb views across the Ogwen Valley to the Glyders upon reaching its dome like summit.
