Our Charity the Snowdon 500 2019
We are proud to have supported the Snowdon 500 annual charity walk up Snowdon in North Wales, a UK Challenge since 2010. The event has raised well over £1m for the Prostate Cancer Research Center (PCRC) since 2006. The fundraising event was founded by Matt Rannamets, who after being told two years earlier that he had an aggressive form a prostate cancer, chose to ignore his Doctors advice to get his affairs in order and instead decided to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise £9000 for the PCRC.
After his fundraising success, Matt then thought that if one person could raise funds by climbing a mountain, then how much more could be raised if a few hundred climbed a mountain for the charity. What followed is history and having come up with the idea Matt along with some of his work colleagues and family set up and organized the event each year. Despite Matt sadly passing away in 2016 after his long and courageous fight against the illness, the Snowdon 500 and the associate 3 Peaks Challenge lives on and is very much alive today continuing to raise much needed funds for the Prostate Cancer Research Center each year. Nowadays the event is organised by the PCRC and along with the help of the original volunteers and Matts family members the event grows from strength to strength each year.
